Local Manufacturing

We design, test and manufacture luminaires from our state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne. Each Eagle Lighting product is built specifically for Australasian conditions—made for locals, by locals.

From our origins as a custom lighting manufacturer to becoming one of Australia's leading lighting specialists, local manufacturing and customisation remain at the core of our business.  This capability allows us to deliver precise solutions for our customers' unique projects.

With Eagle Lighting, you get the peace of mind that comes from working with a genuine local manufacturer.

That means in-house expertise, friendly customer support, certified quality assurance, no supply-chain disruptions, and the flexibility to meet tight schedules.

Laser cutter

Laser cutting offers several advantages over the traditional metal punch press.

Cutting with fibre-optic lasers is faster and more efficient, which shrinks project lead times. It’s more clean and precise, so you get a higher standard finish.

And finally, it’s one of the most environmentally sensitive metal fabrication processes on the market. Unlike CO2 lasers, fibre-optics require no gases to generate the laser beam, so they produce fewer emissions. They also reduce wastage by using as much of the steel sheet as possible.

Once a sheet is cut, it’s stacked onto a pallet, ready to be folded by our Salvagnini ‘P2Lean’ machine.

Salvagnini

The Salvagnini P2Lean is what makes our manufacturing process so streamlined and efficient.

This is Salvagnini’s premium universal panel bender, running an average of 17 bends per minute.

The P2Lean’s universal bending tools can automatically adapt to panel geometry, without any machine downtime or re-tooling. It’s also one of the more sustainable models on the market, running on a minimum amount of long-life oil, inside a fully sealed circuit.

This machine makes sure every Eagle Lighting product meets the highest standards of manufacture and design.

World-class paint line

Our manufacturing facility at Melbourne Airport allowed us to invest in a world-class, environmentally friendly paintline.

This is a closed circuit, state-of-the-art machine, incorporating ITW GEMA technology and exceeding all relevant Australian industry standards.

Our paintline also provides a fully automated powder coating process, where raw luminaire components are degreased and treated, dried, coated and baked, before being prepared for assembly. This includes both an eco-seal and rust-inhibiting seal, to protect the luminaire from wear and water damage.

The end result? Beautifully crafted, long-lasting luminaires.

ESD protection

Most lighting providers won’t give much thought to electrostatic discharge (ESD).

But we’re not most lighting providers.

ESD can damage LED modules over time, leading to shorter lifespans, higher costs and (in some cases) total product failure. To guard against the effects of ESD, we’ve rolled out several levels of protection.

All our employees on the assembly line wear anti-static gloves and an ESD bracelet.

5S Lean manufacturing

Sometimes how you build something is just as important as what you’re building.

We introduced Lean Principles, including 5S methodology, in our manufacturing centres a few years ago, and the results have been fantastic.

We’ve been able to boost our team performance, improve quality, reduce lead times and eliminate non-value-added activities.

Our clients now receive better luminaires with fewer delays, and our employees enjoy safer and more efficient working conditions.

Integrated Management System Quality, Environment and OH&S

Our Integrated Management System (IMS) is responsible for improving quality, environmental performance and OH&S management.

  • ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems)
  • ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems)
  • ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational health and safety management systems)

To assess our Melbourne manufacturing facility, our Quality Department employed a Lean Engineer for 18 months to lead the ‘5S Project’. This resulted in a new factory layout, which allowed for more production space. We also managed to improve product flow and optimise several manufacturing processes.

A new metal shop project reduced non-value-added time, while an OHS Consultant was used to conduct an 'Inhalable Dust and Metals Exposure Assessment' and 'The Occupational Noise Assessment'.

Take the tour

We’re happy to show you around our dedicated manufacturing facility in Melbourne.

Our team can walk you through our production process, but also deliver tailored training modules on all aspects of commercial lighting.

It’s what we call the Eagle Lighting Experience.
