Custodial Solutions

Engineered to meet the stringent standards for custodial environments in Australia and New Zealand

Global reach, local expertise

Our custodial range includes premium, locally manufactured products from our Melbourne factory and sourced products from our UK-based sister company, Designplan.
The range is specifically engineered to meet the stringent standards for custodial environments in Australia and New Zealand, prioritising performance, safety, user comfort, and wellness.

Comprehensive testing you can trust

Our robust products feature high IP and IK ratings and tamperproof screws, providing resistance against dust and water ingress, and vandalism. They also undergo rigorous testing for ligature resistance to ensure they prevent potential self-harm or misuse. Each luminaire provides proper illumination for safety and navigation, making them suitable for high-risk settings such as high security prison cells, mental health units, bathrooms and communal areas.

Ease of installation

Eagle Lighting offers significant lifetime product value through retrofitting existing light fittings by replacing old components with new LED light sources, a process also known as gear tray replacement. Our products feature a demountable gear tray that can be upgraded in-situ as technology changes, in as little as 46 seconds(*), which is critical in custodial settings where access is limited.

Lighting for Secure Mental Health

Lighting in secure mental health facilities supports well-being, safety, and recovery by aligning with circadian rhythms to stabilise mood, support sleep, and reduce agitation. Tuneable White, Blue-Enriched or Blue-Depleted light sources, and RGBW systems provide subtle, purposeful adjustments that create calming atmospheres and reduce anxiety, making them valuable in holistic patient care.

RGB and tuneable white (TW) lighting

RGBW and tuneable white (TW) lighting support mental health in custodial settings by aligning light exposure with circadian rhythms. Daytime blue-enriched light can improve alertness, sleep, and mood, while amber or red light at night avoids melatonin suppression linked to poor sleep and increased stress. Research shows that well-timed, spectrally appropriate lighting improves sleep and emotional stability via non-image-forming pathways primarily mediated by a diverse group of intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs), which influence circadian timing, sleep, and mood, with additional input from rods and cones.
